Newsletter, Saturday, 20th September 2014

Welcome back to school to all the children at Carn N.S. and a big welcome back to Ms Joanne Carey after her travels in the Middle East.  We wish Ms O’Malley all the best and thank her for her two years teaching in Carn. Pictured here are the new starters at Carn N.S. on Monday 1st September 2014.
5K Run or Walk in aid of Moygownagh Community Games on Sunday 5th October @ 4pm, starting from Community Centre.  This is a necessary fundraiser to continue promoting Community Games.  The overall investment of time, energy etc., into our local organisation has paid huge dividends with our athletes and performers competing in the highest level at National Finals this year.  All help and support on the day would be greatly appreciated.  Refreshments served after.  Contact Karen for more details.

Photograph Exhibition
An exhibition of photographs is currently on display in Moygownagh community centre. The photos were taken by Nuala McHale during her volunteer placement in Guatemala this summer. Nuala would like to thank everyone in Moygownagh and surrounding areas who contributed to her fundraising efforts.

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)
What is WEEE?
WEEE, Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment is anything that has a plug or a battery and is at the end of its useful life.  In the house, old and broken fridges and washing machines are examples but don’t forget the little guys! Remote controls, batteries, electric toothbrushes, electronic toys even your old bicycle lamps can also be recycled.  You would be surprised what items you have lying around the house that count as WEEE when they are no longer able to be used.  WEEE Ireland provide free collections in centralised locations throughout Mayo whereby the public can drop off items for recycling.  Ballina collection point is at Humbert street car park (beside Dunnes Stores) on Sat 27th September from 10am to 4pm.
